Simon Jawitz

Simon Jawitz, Esq. received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in June 1978, He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Brandeis University in June 1975. While at Brandeis he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa society.

Mr. Jawitz has over 25 years of business, entrepreneurial finance and legal experience both in the United States and internationally. Mr. Jawitz is currently the CEO of Intellistem Orthopaedic Innovations. LLC, a new orthopedic device company focusing on the development and commercialization of orthopedic implants that will use proprietary, patented technology to eliminate long-term implant failure and prevent pain associated with bone loss around the orthopedic device. Prior to that he was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Scarguard Labs, LLC, a rapidly growing private company that developed innovative and patented technology for the transdermal delivery of drugs designed for the treatment of numerous skin diseases and ailments.

From March 1998 to year-end 2000 Mr. Jawitz was a Managing Director and Head of Asian Capital Markets for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Asia Ltd. Mr. Jawitz had responsibility for DLJ’s investment grade and non-investment grade debt business as well as the firm's public and private equity capital markets activities. Mr. Jawitz also had senior coverage responsibility for financial sponsors and venture capital firms in Asia. Prior to joining DLJ in March 1998, Mr. Jawitz was a Vice President of Goldman Sachs (Asia) in charge of debt structuring and syndicate. In that role, Mr. Jawitz completed numerous bond and syndicated loan transactions including a number of large and highly structured bridge loans.

Before coming to Asia in late 1996 Mr. Jawitz was a Vice President of Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York in charge of the firm's private finance business. From 1991 to 1996 Mr. Jawitz's private finance group completed billion’s of dollars worth of privately negotiated and highly structured financings. Mr. Jawitz also began and ran the firm’s leveraged loan structuring and origination group which undertook and completed numerous leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations. Before joining Goldman Sachs in 1991 Mr. Jawitz was a Managing Director in charge of J.P. Morgan's European Debt Capital Markets Group with responsibility for the firm's public and private debt in Europe as well as the firm's marketing of structured products and derivatives. During his, tenure at ,J.P. Morgan Mr. Jawitz's capital market group was widely recognized as the leader in structured and innovative financings in Europe completing first-of-a-kind financings for numerous US Fortune 100 companies as well as many of Europe's largest corporations. From late 1980 to 1986 Mr. Jawitz was a practicing attorney with Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York concentrating on corporate law and United States Federal taxation law. He served as law clerk to the Honorable Jacob Mishler. Chief Judge, United States Court, Eastern District of New York from September 1978 to September1980.
